PEACE SIGN WALL HANGING ~ Dan Morris Peace Sign wall hanging made of 100% power-loom cotton. Measures approximately 90 x 60 inches. Can be machine washed separately on cool gentle and tumble dried. Corners have tiny loops for hanging or anchoring to ground for beach or picnic spread. The internationally recognized symbol for peace was originally designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement. It was designed and completed on 21 February 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a professional designer and artist in Britain for the April 4th march planned by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War from Trafalgar Square, London to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in England. The symbol was later adopted by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It was then adopted first by the 1960s anti-war movement and finally by the popular culture of our time.
